Examples

For the most part, stat blocks are easiest to understand when described with examples. Though examples cannot take the place of style sheets, they have a valuble purpose and are easy to use and understand. A small number of sample characters were designed for this purpose; they have a wide range of abilities to showcase the many parts of the stat block. These examples are presented not only in the d20 standard format but in a number of different formats.

To change between formats, select one from the choices above: Core Rules, d20 Standard, Guild, or Chronicle. Below is a single stat block in each of the formats; the d20 standard format used is Expanded.

Why offer the comparison? Quite simply, the goal of this organization is to create and promote the best stat block possible. Without comparing this community standard to other formats, it is hard to improve upon the stat block. Additionally, it is important to know what the other formats are when they are encontered elsewhere.
